Created over 37 years by pioneering artist and professor harvey fite opus 40 is a world famous nonprofit sculpture park and museum with more than 60 acres of meadows forested paths and bluestone quarries including 6 5 acres of earthwork sculpture in the heart of the hudson valley in saugerties ny. Grounds for sculpture is a museum sculpture garden and arboretum framed by nature on 42 picturesque acres. Wander the grounds and discover hundreds of contemporary sculptures.
This large sculpture garden was founded in 1992 and features close to 300 sculptures by well known artists and also has seasonal exhibits. Therefore we have established a schedule that allows access to the grounds without interfering with our business operations. Every saturday sunday 8 00 am 10 00 am reservations required.
Visitors to the grounds can enjoy an outdoor permanent collection of over 270 sculptures by both well known and emerging contemporary artists. It was founded in 1992 on the site of the former new jersey state fairgrounds by seward johnson to promote an understanding of and appreciation for contemporary sculpture.
