Descanso gardens welcomes artists and photographers to capture our natural beauty. Descanso gardens has developed over the years to include a collection of gardens that include oak woodlands a 5 acre rose garden the japanese garden with its classic full moon tea house an 8 acre california natives garden a lilac garden with over 250 different types a steam and lake with bird observation areas.

Today the department owns 182 beautiful parks including natural areas wildlife sanctuaries lakes trails arboreta and botanic gardens and local community and regional parks. You can purchase drinks which can be taken into the garden or food which must be eaten in the picnic area or taken home. Thanks to good food great company stunning lights and the super moon we had an amazing time at the enchanted forest descanso gardens.

Think of a stroll through a garden except instead of a small backyard you have acres of luscious foliage and beautiful architecture. The department also operates the largest municipal golf system with 20 courses at 18 locations and owns great cultural venues including the john anson ford. No model airplanes drones kites or metallic balloons.
